Week 24. Things that are happening in Calgary! June 9-15

SHREK the Musical. 375 Bermuda Drive NW Calgary. Saturday, June 14, 2014. Adults: $25, Children: $20

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre — not a handsome prince — shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek.

Fashion Forward believes in women helping women using fashion as a tool to empower and build awareness … “Someone’s future is in your closet” in support of Making Changes. We can each make a difference in someone’s future. For attendees of Fashion Forward that gift will be the donation of gently used work attire and accessories. You won’t soon forget our fabulous runway show hosted by Holt Renfrew, Apt 22, Pink Tartan and Swimco. The show will also feature Calgary’s hottest stylists, blending a sampling of clothing donated by attendees with new items, to create professional, fashion forward looks right before your eyes. With pop-up shops, mini-manicures, makeovers, Champagne Diamond Dip, a Swimco model search and chances to win great prizes, the evening won’t soon be forgotten. Most importantly, we will increase awareness and raise funds for Making Changes, a local registered charity that provides women and girls with career counselling and work-appropriate clothing and accessories to help give them the confidence to enter or re-enter the workforce as new immigrants, after crisis or when leaving unhealthy domestic situations. Making Changes gives women the tools to change their lives, and thereby our community, forever.
