    Christmastime Stuff


    Christmas in Inglewood.  The 80+ shops and restaurants of Inglewood (9 Ave. S.E. and surrounding Streets and Ave’s). Thursday, Nov 14 through to Wednesday, Dec. 25

    Christmas In Inglewood kicks off on Thursday, Nov. 14 and runs through to Wednesday, Dec. 25, with lights, trees, carolers and the most unique holiday gift selection around, from more than 80 independent and locally-owned shops and restaurants.     Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market. 18011 Spruce Meadows Way SW. Friday, November 22, 2013. Friday 9:30am – 8:00pm, Saturday: 9:30am – 7:00pm, Sunday 9:30 – 5:00pm.

    Shopping, Santa’s Reindeer, petting zoo – something for everyone! Parking is free – follow signage to Tournament Lane entrance. There is also a complimentary shuttle service between the Somerset/Bridlewood C-Train Station and the Christmas Market check the website for hours of operation.     Olympic Plaza Skating. Olympic Plaza 228 – 8 Avenue SE.

    Olympic Plaza is a great place to bring the family to enjoy a day of skating. The rink is open to the public daily from 10am to 9pm until the middle of March, depending on the weather. Grab your ice-skates and glide amongst the lights. Skate rental not available.

    Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker. Fri November 22, 2013. Epcor Centre. Price Range $50.65 – $134.70.

    Great Russian Nutcracker overflows with a spectacular new “Dove of Peace,” where 2 dancers become one stunning bird, a Christmas tree that grows to 7 stories tall; falling snow and Troika-styled sleigh escorted by Russian folk characters.  There are towering hand-made silk puppets; 200 all new, lavish costumes; and 9 hand-painted backdrops, all set to Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s complete Nutcracker Suite score.     Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown. Monday, November 18, 2013. 7pm-10pm. $50

    The Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown event aims to raise awareness of the importance of using ocean-friendly seafood. Join 12 top Calgary chefs as they compete for Chowder Chowdown Champion! Taste all 12 chowders, paired with local craft beer, and cast your vote. For location and to buy tickets click, Chowdown

    Anchor Steam Brewmaster Dinner. Tuesday, November 19, 2013. 6pm-9pm. $60

    Craft Brewmasters dinner is held once a month and features a different partner. Join us for an evening of great food and beer as well as some insight into the history behind the brewery and beer featured. Chef Paul McGreevy creates a unique four course dinner to pair with our partner Brewmasters selection of beers. Each course is designed to cut or compliment the beer while bring out the flavour of both food and brew. Welcome beer at 6:00pm, first course served at 6:30pm. Please note this is a set menu.     Amber Bauer Country Love Tour.  The Lantern, 1401 10th Ave. S.E.  Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Doors open at 6pm. $25

    Amber Bauer – Grew up in Vermilion AB, lived in Calgary half the time and payed rent in Vancouver. Plays the piano and the Hammond organ (and cannot see over the top of them if they are stacked).     FREE EXHIBIT: Jewels from the Sky. Lougheed House, 707 13 Avenue SW. Runs from Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11am to Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 4pm.

    Explore the intricate and unseen beauty of snowflakes in Paul Burwell’s Jewels from the Sky. Burwell’s high gloss photographic prints expose the incredibly intricate and unique crystals that make up snowflakes, allowing viewers to see these frosty drops in a way rarely observed.
