    The magic of the holidays is all around us!…Including all the twinkling Zoolights! The Zoo reopened on November 29 after being closed down due to the June floods. The Zoolights are a yealy Calgary tradition enjoyed by the young and young at heart! Have fun!

    Friday December 6th is the 2nd Annual Reindeer Day at Kingsland Farmers’ Market. Wrangle up the family and bring them down to The Market to get a family picture taken with one of the Herd. Digital Photo Copies will be available for purchase as well as Hot Chocolate, Baked Goods and other Treats!

    Green Calgary Presents: Holiday Toy Swap! 1227 Kensington Close NW. Hillhurst United Church. Saturday, December 7, 2013 – 10:00-12:00 Price:$10 in advance / $15 at the door

    Save money and resources by swapping toys this holiday season! Find those forgotten, gently used items in your home and trade them for new-to-you toys, board games or books. This toy swap is a fundraiser for Green Calgary’s Healthy Homes program, helping individuals and families create safer and more sustainable homes since 2009. The process is simple: drop off your clean, functional, gently used toys at the Green Calgary office by December 5th, 2013 and we will give you tokens to trade for “new” toys at the swap on December 7th, 2013. *Toys will not be accepted December 7th, please drop them off by December 5th!  Green Calgary: #100, 301 14th St. NW Drop-off hours: Tuesday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 11am to 3pm (closed Sundays and Mondays)

    Time to make a difference in our community for the holiday season with your fellow Chivers by helping out The Magic of Christmas. A not for profit organization that provides gifts and cheer for deserving families. Bring an unwrapped toy, gift or household item for raffle tickets. A silent AND live auction will be held as well as a new tshirt design will be available (limited quantities). All profits from tshirt sales will be going to Chive Charities. There will be prizes for best outfits so dress to impress! This time around we will be featuring a tasty Turducken dinner with all the fixings for a limited number of tickets before the main event begins. 5:00pm Dinner Cocktails, 5:30pm Dinner Buffet Service, 7:00pm Door Open to General Ticketholders

    Zoolights at the Calgary Zoo (Opening Friday, Nov. 29) November 29 – January 4th, 2014  (Excluding Christmas Day and December 31).  6:00pm – 9:00pm nightly
    The flood didn’t wash away the lights display. The Calgary Zoo has dried off and will be completely reopened for the first time since the flood. It’s the start of another Calgary holiday tradition: Zoolights. This weekend features ice-carving demonstrations and a station where kids can connect with Santa via Skype.
